unique & remarkable
To honor our natal region, we create exclusive wines, made of indigenous Dão grape varieties.
The agricultural system implemented in the vineyard is an integrated protection program, which minimizes phytosanitary product interventions, demonstrating great respect for the environment. The vineyards are not irrigated, putting the vineyard at the mercy of the climate, which sublimates the annual character of each wine.
All steps taken in the vineyard reflect the affection for the final product. Yields are limited so that the production of the grapevine is the perfect expression of the grapes it generates. The enhanced characteristics of each grape variety translates into 100 thousand bottles of superior quality wine each year.
Quinta de Lemos has been distinguished since its inception, but it was in 2013 that it received one of the most emblematic awards worldwide: Gold Medal, Portuguese Red Trophy and Dão Trophy, for the Dona Georgina 2005 at the International Wine Challenge (IWC), one of the most prestigious international competitions taking place annually in the United Kingdom.
At the IWC it won the special prized James Rogers Trophy 2013, which is assigned to the best wine in the first year of production. For this reason, Dona Georgina 2005 was named one of the five best wines in the world.
Robert Parker scored all 2011 and all 2012 wines with 90 points and above, an achievement shared by few wineries world wide, and a top score of 94 points.
